Earth

Earth

The symbol for Earth symbolizes the cross of matter that sits in the middle of our lives, which is encircled by the circle of spirit. The symbol originates from the symbol for Mother Earth, the circle which represents our planet, with the crosses symbolizing the cycles of life.

Earth's symbol promotes the fact that we need to work with it rather than against it. The Earth does not have total control over us, just as we do not have total control over it. It suggests that we look to being at one with it in our spirit and actions, in order to co exist in the friendliest and most respectful way we can! Earth is balanced and nurturing, so it needs us to reciprocate the favor if we are to live together peacefully. What we do to the Earth very much governs how it will react. If we nurture it, it will bloom. If we continually rape and pillage it, it will simply have to protect itself from the damaging elements at work.

Just as mankind has life and a soul, so does our Mother Earth. Our strong and caring spirit is what our Earth needs. All life has been born from it and will return to its womb after all. The core values of Earth have been to create life, nurture it, provide for it, and adapt to exist as it grows older. If we think about the symbol for our Earth, we just have to think about how we treat our own Mothers. With all the wisdom we have learned from her, and all the love that she has given us, a little more respect from us would be more than fair. It may even make our planet feel all the more beautiful and cared for as she enters the last half of her life.

Earth represents the underlying influences which rise to the surface as a part of its balanced nature. It has its own strong spirit which it depends on to perpetuate. However, it needs our spirits to enrich it and guide it in order for it to benefit our lives. It requires balance and structure in order to continue growing, just like the life forms that exist on it do!
