Religions

From Ancient days, millions of people have believed in a higher force to guide them through their lives. In fact, the vast majority of all people born on planet Earth have believed in some sort of Religion at some point. Since mankind evolved, countless forms of religions have been practiced.

People have linked themselves with their chosen God or belief systems for a few reasons. Either they have been influenced by the generations they are born into, or they choose to believe in practicing certain ethics associated with another belief they discover. In a way, Religions provide us with boundaries and disciplines in order for us to behave in a manner that appeases the respective God. It also allows us to experience the feeling of belonging, and the self satisfaction that we are doing the right thing. Religion can also be viewed as a need for people to comply with the wishes of a supernatural power in order to feel fulfilled.

. ..

To think religions were basically introduced to give mankind a better world is ironic really. Mankind has been known to manipulate any powers they have at hand, even armies of innocent believers. Religion has been used time and time again as a reason to take over foreign territories and accumulate the riches from the plunder. Nations have also fought wars to either spread or defend their religious beliefs. The death and destruction religious wars continue to cause is certainly reason enough to question if they are in fact all they were setup to be! Millions have died in religious wars over the generations, and people are still dying for their religious beliefs today!

Religion has always been one of the most powerful influences on Earth. Mankind has always needed to have faith and trust in the worlds they lived in, just as we still do today. After all the years of watching the different faiths evolve and grow, maybe now is the time to respect the fact that the ancient beliefs belong to everyone. Everyone is entitled to believe in anything they wish to. What we must now encourage is a universal respect for all beliefs. Having faith is one thing, having respect is quite another!

The amount of people who do not believe in any religious faith or a God is definitely a minority; however the generations of tomorrow may well have something to say about that. Science and technology will provide facts that may influence the current, long standing belief systems. In this day and age, technology makes it easier than ever to reach new audiences and influence them with new perspectives. Times have changed, and the energies of the next generations will determine what is worthwhile.
